I'm Charlene, a twenty-something animal lover living in Scotland.

As an English, Journalism and Creative Writing graduate, and a Communications Officer during my 9-5, I like putting a pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) - I started my blog as a space to write about what I want to write about, when I want to write about it.

After taking part in Veganuary in 2016, I started to use tartanmouth as a space to share vegan recipes and places to eat out in Scotland as a vegan. I was vegetarian for nearly twelve years before I even tried being vegan, because I assumed it would be too restrictive and difficult - since discovering how much I like following a plant-based diet, I can't shut up about it.

If you're vegan, I hope my blog will give you ideas for some delicious new recipes and tips for where to eat out. If you're considering making the switch - or just want to introduce more plant-based meals to your diet - then I hope my posts will help.

There are so many wonderful blogs, websites, documentaries and books out there on why going vegan could be the happiest and healthiest choice you'll ever make - please get in touch if you'd like some suggestions.

The best part about blogging has been the wonderful people I've spoken to (through blog comments, but also over on Twitter and Instagram), so don't be shy and please stop to say hello!
